Timpson and Shiner Expected to Battle for 2022 2AD1 Title

By Longhorn Putt

The Timpson Bears have the experience and the talent to win the 2022 2AD1 crown, with 12 starters returning and holding on to implanted memories of a well-played game against Shiner in last year’s semifinal round, losing by only seven, 35-28; Timpson, under head coach Kerry Therwhanger,  should be strong enough this year, we think, to be our #1 in the preseason,  with Shiner, riding a 30 game win streak, as our #2.  Timpson has lost but two games in the past two years, both to Shiner (49-7 in 2020  semifinal).

The Bears and the Comanches will be challenged in their 2022 openers.  On August 26,  Timpson travels to Beckville to face a very good team Bearcat squad, while Shiner hosts always tough arch-rival Hallettsville.

In their 2021 subregional matchup, Timpson defeated Beckville, 42-21. In last year's opener,  Shiner defeated Hallettsville 21-6.

Doug, #1, graduated (Thank you, Jesus, say opponents) but brother Dalton returns anticipating another great Comanche year.

Leading the offense for Timpson will be junior quarterback Terry Bussey; for Shiner, the sensational running back Dalton Brooks.

Jacobian Grace, 6'1", 240 lbs.

Lineman Jacobian Grace heads up a fine Timpson front on both offense and defense.

Also on August 26, #3 Refugio will be on the road to face 3AD1 Hitchcock, a much-improved Bulldog team (5-6 in 2021).

Should Texosport’s preseason picks hold, Timpson and Shiner will likely meet again in the semifinal round.
