Abash’d the Devil stood, And felt how awful goodness is. — John Milton*
If the Devil had his choice in the White House, what would his president be like?
A ridiculous question?
In ordinary times, we the American people might well hesitate to answer. But these are not ordinary times. Current history is teaching us perhaps the most critically important lesson ever made known in our 242 year history. We now can answer. For before our very eyes, we are observing in action The Devil’s ideal president:
He is a womanizer. Woman exist solely to satisfy his carnal desires. He is an unabashed misogynist.
He uses people, as needed, to attain his goals. He quickly discards them when they are no longer useful.
He alone defines what is true.
He tolerates no opposition.
Nation, state and community exist solely to serve his whims and purposes over and above all else.
He is obsessed with worldly power and success.
He has no discernible appreciation for the history of the humankind, none whatsoever for the marvelous varieties of human experience.
Authentic religious devotion is unknown to him.
Lying is his usual manner of speaking. Truth-telling is also alien to him..
He has neither an observable love of nature nor any visible appreciation for the wonder and beauty of the world.
He places no lasting value on the lessons of history, only giving meaningless lip-service to them when prompted..
In embarrassing and disgraceful fashion, he pretends to honor the saints and heroes of our nation, in order to enhance his stature over them.
He is evil personified.
