Shutdown Overshadows Bowl Games

WASHINGTON — House Democrats will put forward for a vote on Thursday  a proposal to reopen the federal government by severing funding for the Department of Homeland Security and border security from other spending bills that enjoy bipartisan support.  The proposal aims to force President Trump to negotiate or to shoulder the blame for a protracted shutdown.

On Monday Senator Elizabeth Warren announced her plans to run for the presidency in the 2020 presidential election.  Senator Warren was the first Democrat to announce.  Several other candidates are expected to make their plans known in the near future.
