Lipan Boys and Girls Humming Along in Quest of Both 2A Basketball Titles

It's hard hard to tell which is the better all-round team, the Lipan Boys or the Lipan girls

The girls have lost two (24-2), the boys (24-1), only one.  Glen Rose defeated the girls 36-51 and Martin's Mill whipped them, 45-49, both last November

On December 1, with a win over Central Heights, Lipan girls Coach Amber Branson celebrated her 400th win.   In the 2021 state final, the Lady Indians defeated Martin's Mill, 45-39, for their second state title.

On December  42-45 , Timpson inflicted the only loss the Lipan Boys have suffered this season.

District play for both squads in January has only enhanced their respective standing statewide.

Over six district Games, the Lipan boys have averaged 70 ppg while giving upon only 21.  Aganst the same six district opponents (distaff side of course), t he Lipan Girls have scored at at an average of  60 ppg, giving up but 12 ppg.

Last year, the Lipan Boys only loss (39-1) was in the state final, 65-51, to Clarendon.  They were going for their fifth state title.

There's no way to predict exactly how things will turn out come mid March, but needless to say, the 2022-23 season has been and will likely continue to be another great year in basketball  for Lipan.
