Hip, Hip, Hooray! Let’s Cheer for the Winless
by Longhorn Putt
They need our support!
Going into Week 9 games, with most matchups set for Friday Oct 21, 2022, across our 2A/3A four divisions, eleven teams are without a win, one of which has an open date.
Of the ten remaining winless, four appear to have a good shot at halting their losing streak: Colorado (0-8) vs. Winters (1-7); Schulenburg (0-7) PHOTO vs. Weimar (2-6); Dimmitt (0-7) vs. Tulia (2-5) and Normangee (0-6) at Groveton (1-6). The other six winless face more formidable opponents.
TEXOSPORT is, of course, well aware that traditional reporting usually lifts up the big winners while giving minimal attention to those suffering bad seasons. But that may be a mistake, we think. The schools that are losing might just as likely profit from the attention given to their plight. For many of the schools have sound educational systems looking only for the right coaches to build, or rebuild a strong athletic program, which is already in progress for some of the teams cited here.
When that happens, we rejoice!
