This is still the case in Refugio, we trust.  But in late fall of 2023 most everyone's fancy in that county is turning to track and field, baseball and softball.  The basketball season has not been kind to the Bobcats and Lady Cats.

We must congratulate Woodsboro sophomore  quarterback Layton Niemann for being selected Co-MVP (football) for the district.

And we must also congratulate all the Refugio county players honored on the All-state football teams selected by the Texas Sports Writers Association, from which we list here the top two teams:
