Daily Devotion – 12 February

Abe Lincoln, whose birthday we celebrate, was a genius with words.  And in this brief statement he lifts up the most basic meaning of love;  the care we give to our children.

If we cannot render that care, what else is there that's important?

We are, as most of us realize, trying hard in 2023 to redefine the meaning of family and of love.  What is marriage?  What does it mean to be sexually attracted to the same sex?  On and on, the debate seems endless.

But Abe was right.  Love of children is basic, regardless of our other answers.
