2A Softball: Crawford, Stamford Hold Top Spots; Refugio Ranked
APRIL 25, 2022 - This THSGCA (Girls) has realeased this week's 2A softball rankings; and, not surprisingly Crawford and Stamford are at the top; and perennial powers Weimar and Thorndale are contending well.
Stamford is the defending champion. Crawford won the 2A title in 2019. Covid 19 cancelled the 2020 tournament.
But there are surprises:
Ozona (10-1) is clamoring to be recognized, as is Mason (14-4) and Refugio (19-5) which just captured from Falls City the top spot in District 31.
The four semi-final spots are in strong contention accrording to the rankings:
In Region I Stamford is being challenged by Oona and Borden County.
Region II Crawford must get past Como-Pickton and Italy.
Lovelady currently is the top-ranked statewide (#3) team from Region III, but faces stiff oppostion from Deweyville and Beckville.
Then, in Region IV, Ganado, currently #4 statewide, has the task of elimiating Latexo , Bremond and a host of other regional aspirers.
