Can One High School Win Both 2A Basketball Titles in 2023?

Lipan Indians - Texas HS Logo ProjectSolid Coaching, above average players who work well together, a favorable schedule—all are among the key elements essential for  winning a  state championship in Texas, which itself is a truly worthy accomplishment for any school.

But what about two titles in the same year? Boys and Girls?  It has happened before, but very seldom.  This year Lipan High School appears to have the best shot at the double.  This week, the Texas High Basketball Coaches Association has  the Lipan Boys at #1 and the Lipan Girls at #3 among all 2A schools.

The same rankings suggest that for the Lipan Boys the stiffest  state competition  will come from LaPoynor and Timpson.

Timpson is the only team to defeat Lip boys in 2022-3, 45-42, a month ago.

Nocona #1 and  New Home #2 top the rankings forfor the 2A girls.

The Nocona girls are, at the moment,  the only top-ranked undefeated team in 2A and 3A basketball.

The only other 2A school currently ranked in the Top 10 in both divisions  are the Martins Mill boys (#) and their counterpart (#8).

Texosport wishes the very best to all the schools having a banner year with Covid-19 pretty much a thing of the  past.
