Top 2A and 3A teams to be tested in 2022 football openers

August 23, 2022 - As we prepare for the Week 1 openers , let's remind ourselves of who were the 2021 winners: 2AD1, Shiner (and 2020); 2AD2, Stratford; 3AD1, Lorena; and 3AD2, Gunter.
Shiner and Gunter claimed their titles without a loss and Shiner is beginning the new season with a 30-game win streak. Refugio was the last team to defeat the Comanches, 45-43, on Nov. 29, 2019.
In addition to the listing below of the openers for our Top 5 teams in each division, we add here our three featured games for the week.
