This Could Be the Year for the Hawley Bearcats to Take It All

Hawley Head Coach/AD MItch Ables has not had a losing season since he took over the football program in 2014, when his first team ended with a 7-5 record.  More recently, the Bearcats have lost but seven games since the beginning of the 2018 season.

Ables is a graduate of Hardin Simmons.

Last year, 2021, the Bearcats (15-1) were 2AD1 runners-up, losing to Shiner,47-12, in the final.   In 2020 when they were 10-3, eliminated by Cisco, 54-20, in the sub-regional round. In 2019 (13-1), the year Refugio won it all, Hawley (13-1) lost to Post, 52-42 in the state semi-final.

The 2022 Bearcats are loaded with experience and are led on offense by running Back Auston Cumpton, quarterback Rodey Hooper and wide receiver Will Scott.  Hez Parker excels as a second running back and outside linebacker.
