The Most Competitive District in Texas HS Football?

2A1, District 4?

Hawley or Cisco?  That’s where the Big Game is for Week 11, with Hawley being a slight favorite to win the year-ending matchup of the two, in Hawley.

But don’t forget Stamford.  The Bulldogs are set to finish a strong third in the district, having lost to Hawley, 0-32, and to Cisco, 14-47.  Also, Olney, currently #4 in the district, should finish at 7-3, with an expected Friday win over Winters (1-8).

In short, District 4 should send four very good teams into the playoffs.

Cisco is, of course, a familiar playoff team, and Hawley has become one.  Stamford, with five state championships, has long been a title contender, and the Olney Cubs (6-3) have high hopes.

3AD1 District 5?

Pottsboro (8-1), Mount Vernon (8-1) and Winnsboro (7-2) are in a fierce battle for playoff advantage.

Pottsboro and Mount Vernon meet this Friday in a game that will decide the #1 out of the district.    But Winnsboro inflicted upon Pottsboro its only loss, 36-35 on October 21.  So, the question will remain:  who will be numbers 2 and 3?   Mineola has the inside track on the #4 spot.
