“He that hath not sinned…”

In one short Temple statement, Jesus humbled the Pharisees gathered in their most sacred place to carry out one of their most sacred laws, which was to “stone to death” a woman “taken” in adultery. (John 8:1-12)
That first-century “sacred” law clearly did not apply to men, which the Pharisees were—a classic instance of patriarchal religion at its worst.
We are, of course, no longer a male-dominated society in the ancient sense. But we are a conflicted society, a nation and a world still struggling with the consequences of centuries of feminine-exploitation.
The “Me-Too” movement ought not to be a surprise to us. Powerful men continue to exploit women. And “Me-Too” aims to hold them responsible. Bravo!
With respect to Donald J. Trump, however, his “core” followers see no need for holding him accountable, not even for his known federal crimes, confessed to and, connected to campaign violations,  legally upheld, that he committed in his extra-marital affairs.
The underlying issue in those affairs—adultery—is well understood among adults in modern America. “He (or she) who has not sinned…. Let him (or her) cast the first stone.”
But many Americans still do not fully comprehend the evil inherent in the abuse of women, nor the yet more cancerous evil inherent in the abuse of any human being.
To be sure, “abuse” can be, and often is, other than “sexual.” And in that sense, the male victims of Trump’s economic and business abuses likely far outnumber the women upon whom he has visited his degradations. His inhumanity has no boundaries, except to keep away women who menstruate and men who possess a stronger morality.
The serious ramifications of these kind of abuses we ignore at significant risk, personally and as a nation. For there are no borders to the unopposed indecencies of men and women seeking personal gratification. They must be checked, and with damning force.
Our Awful Truth: powerful men who “grope” women, devious women who manipulate weak or sexually-starved men, as well as every individual, male or female, who tolerates such behavior – all are complicit and guilty of human exploitation.
And when adultery is tied to every brother and sister of its kind, the more inclusive capabilities of men and women to destroy one another, it takes on monumental significance and demands exposure lest it continue unrestrained.
Donald J Trump has not just been unfaithful to his wives, he has taken despicable advantage of multiple people from ever station and walk of life. In every conceivable devious manner a man can individually and politically carry out, perhaps short of murder and overt physical cruelty, Trump has done critical harm to the family units involved, especially to the children of those families and, indeed, to every individual affected.
And shame upon shame! Donald J Trump’s failed presidency has brought worldwide disgrace to the United States of America.
So disgraceful to this concerned citizen he, in full confession of his own mortality and shortcomings, is left to ponder with profound sorrow: How much longer will Congress and we the people tolerate this petty little man, this “farce of a Pharisee” in the highest office of our land?
