Fanny Is a Dandy, and a Cantu Kind of Guy

by Andy “Putt” Pate

If you don’t know Fanny Cantu, let me introduce you.  If you do, allow me, via a short video–see below–to bring you up to date.

We’re from the same hometown, but almost a generation apart.  Not surprisingly, however, we have many things in common, not the least of which are the values and outlooks on life we accumulated growing up in the South Texas town of Refugio.

Fanny has lived most of his adult life in Houston, where (Alief) he currently resides with one of his two daughters, and her family.

Three or four years ago a morning prayer by Fanny Cantu popped up on my Facebook screen.  It caught my attention so strongly that I have continued to look for Fanny’s morning prayer first thing after I begin the day swith my computer and  check Facebook.

On Wednesday, June 10th, we arranged to meet in northwest Houston.  We spent two hours getting acquainted, with me closing out our session by recording his own thoughts about himself..  The video was inadequately lighted, but I think you will find the audio able to give you a richer insight into the nature of this Man of  Prayer from Refugio, Texas.

For me, Fanny has come across as aeally neat guy, outward thinking, considerate, devoted to his family and. . .very bright.  He is who he appears to be on Facebook.  I liked him before our meeting.   I like and respect him now even more.
