Daily Devotion – 17 March

I Corinthian’s 13: 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.…

I want to know!  And I want to know with certainty, without fear of contradiction.  But the Apostle reminds us of that impossibility.  In the world in which we exist, we only know in part.

So, whether we’re watching and taking in the biased utterances from MSNBC or Fox News, what we are taking in is only partial truth,, whether we totally agree at the moment or not.

But we do know “in part,” In other words, we are given insights and information that is helpful; and our job is to screen out what can be known only partially.   It’s never the case that we know all there is to know

Which ought to remind everyone of us something we ought never forget:  the persons who give us the news, the people they are reporting on—all are fallible human beings.  Perhaps they do give us the best and most accurate information available.  But none gives us all the truth.

That’s the way it is.

So, please take these words seriously but not with total seriousness.  They could have been stated better, and just by adding a few more of the Apostle’s words.  “Faith, Hope, Love abide; but the greatestof these is Love.”

PRAYER

When we are low, show us your love and compassion, for that is your true face, and take us higher with you that we may adore and praise you until the end of our days, for you are the Lord, the bringer of light.  AMEN
